Jonathan Gold
b. 1972, Kibbutz Afek, Israel; lives and works in Tel Aviv.

Jonathan Gold's art reflects a contemporary point of view with regard to modern painting and Israeli painting in particular. He often addresses social situations such as the relationship between the individual and the group, between women and men, between artist and viewer, as well as the affinities between human beings and objects.

In his work on the truck, Gold opted for images that continue his series of paintings depicting women and men engaged in planning and painting spaces. The most prominent characteristic of these paintings is the element of movement and the background of intense blue pigment that brilliantly illuminates their labor as a unique moment. Gold also incorporated colored chalks in his work.

Studied in in the Department of Visual Arts, Tel Hai College; the Departments of Fine Arts and Art History, University of Haifa; and the Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl Academic College, Israel. Was an artist-in-residence at Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam, and subsequently moved to Berlin for several years, where he created his art and presented exhibitions. In 2007 he returned to Tel Aviv. His works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries in Israel and around the world. He is a senior lecturer on art at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art, Ramat Gan, Israel.
