Boaz Noy

b. 1972, Haifa; lives and works in Haifa.

Many of Boaz Noy's works address the Israeli urban spaces of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem. In his crowded and compressed oil paintings, he formulates the local landscape in movement and matter.

On the Flying Cargo truck, entitled Tel Aviv, he depicted the city from the tenth floor. One side of the truck features the "Earthly Tel Aviv," with formal motifs that lend the city its character (a street, a crosswalk, curbs, etc.), and on the other side—the sky of the ideal, fantastic "Celestial City," with its towers and neighborhoods, and its ever-crowding skyline.

Holds a B.Arch from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. Studied at L'École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Paris—La Villette. Recipient of the Artist in the Community Award from the Israeli Ministry of Culture (2013). His works are in various private and public collections. Represented by Rosenfeld Gallery, Tel Aviv.
